There are two conditions in any ADSL service provider
Bridging Mode Where third party dialer is required to connect to the Internet
which are in GUI display that can be view on your screen during login
where modem/ router became the bridge between your PC and the Internet Server
and
PPP over Ethernet (where modem itself store a username and password to your service provider)
Where modem/router itself connects to the internet service provider as and on pre instructed commands.
